Sharper Image Design's new Intelligent Battery Manager is a portable, multistage battery charger for 6- and 12-volt lead-acid and AGM batteries of all sizes. This indispensable device safely maintains the batteries of vehicles in long-term storage or between uses – in cars, trucks, SUVs, ATVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, lawn tractors, even boats and jet skis. Its "intelligent" microprocessor-controlled circuitry monitors and self-adjusts to prevent overcharging or damage; plus it features automatic overload and short-circuit protection. Electronic push-button controls make it easy to select charge rate or battery type. LED indicators display the battery charge status. The Intelligent Battery Manger (I.B.M.) offers 2-, 4- and 6-amp selections. A 2-amp "trickle" charge is for small batteries in motorcycles, lawn tractors, ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft; this selection will also maintain car, small truck, antique- and classic-car batteries. The 4-amp "slow" charge provides self-adjusting amperage for everyday charging needs; and it maintains a battery in peak condition. The strongest 6-amp "rapid" charge safely brings a battery back to full charge in a few hours; it automatically adjusts its charge rate downward to prevent battery damage. Use the 6-amp option with cars, small trucks and boats. When charging, the I.B.M. has 50-amp clamps for connecting to a battery; or via the included ring connectors for hard-to-reach motorcycle batteries. Measures 7 1/4" long x 7 1/4" x 2 3/4".
